Blayney Oct 2019

Only 2 vans attended this trip. We met up with Glenore & Ivan at Cassilis rest area just in time for afternoon coffee. This is a great free camp site. Moved on the next morning to Lake Wallace near Lithgow. Arriving at lunchtime to find nice water views & even grass under foot. We had a lovely afternoon & overnight stay. Moved on the next morning bound for Blayney. Booked in & set up camp at Blayney Tourist Park. A great park with large drive through sites, hugh BBQ area, camp kitchen, a dog run, clean amenities supplied with complimentry bath mats fresh every day for your shower. The grounds have lovely gardens, full of Irises & roses & also feature 4 unique steel works of art, along with a small playground with 2 beautifully painted blue horses. From here we explored the surrounding historic villages most over 100 years old. We visited Carcoar, Newbridge, Neville, Barry (don't blink you'll miss it), Milthorpe, Mandurama, Carcoar Dam which was very low & of course not forgetting Blayney. Lots of people free camping out at the dam. We had lunch at Carcoar township at the "Village Grocer", lovely meal, we ducked into a garage sale while there & purchased some bargains. The town was very busy as the local show was on. We visited Blayney cemetry & was so sad to see the old graves crumbling & deteriorating.

We had happy hour one day in the BBQ area along with the managers & fellow travellers. They wanted some feedback on the park & what us travellers would like have at the park. A very enjoyable time was had. The last day we went into Bathurst for supplies for our free camping run home & also stopped off at a few op shops.

Left Blayney heading for Wellington. Had a look around town, had lunch, visited the op shop, walked around the beautiful roses in the park before heading on to Cassilis rest area for the night. Next day headed off, stopped at Merriwa Cafe "Eat @ 153" for morning tea which was absolutely delicious. Into the info centre for a few things then the op shop next door, stopped to checked out the completed painted silo. Very well done. Next stop Jerry's Plains for the last 2 nights of free camping. Ivan & Glenore have honed their free camping skills to a T. Overall we had a most enjoyable & scenic trip. Signing off with:
